GADGET OF THE WEEK ; MOTO GGames [Mirror (UK)]
(Mirror (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Price dependent on contract ****
Budget Android handsets can often be a false economy, too often fitted with frustratingly slow processors and poor resolution screens.
This effort from Motorola, their first to be released in the UK since they were bought by Google last year, bucks that trend somewhat.
It has a rather nice 4.5-inch, 720p screen and a nippy Snapdragon 400 CPU, despite sporting a sub-Pounds 150 PAYG price tag.
This price point is exemplified by the plastic casing that's a magnet for c or greasy fingers, along with the comparatively heavy 143g weight and general bulkiness. The 5MP camera lens is another corner cutter, with the resultant snaps prone to some graininess and a hint of blurring.
On the plus side, it has a welcome water-repellent coating which means that although you won't be able to take it in the shower - it's not fully waterproof - you will at least be able to whip it out in the rain without fear of ruining it.
The Moto G is also a fast operator, particularly for web browsing, and there's a guaranteed update to the latest version of Android, 4.4 KitKat.
This is perhaps a low-key return for Moto, but it's a significant one and you 'll be hard pressed to buy a better phone for this kind of outlay.
