CEO of software firm kidnapped; robbed [DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India)]
(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) A 37-year-old CEO of a software firm based in Wakdewadi was beaten up, kidnapped in his own car and later robbed on Baner Road by two unidentified persons on a motorbike on Wednesday night.
The incident came to light when Ketan Chandrakant Ganu, a resident of Solitaire Society near Baner Road lodged a complaint with Chatuhshrungi police station.
Assistant police inspector MN Walekar of Chatuhshrungi police station said, "Ganu was returning home in his car after attending a party on Senpati Bapat Road on Wednesday at 11.30 pm. It was then that two youths wearing monkey caps, blocked his way and hit him with a stone when he reached on Baner Road."
He added, "The duo drove him in his car to an isolated spot in Kiwale village, about 20 km away from the city and snatched his gold chain, two gold rings and Rs1,000 cash, totally valuing to Rs70,000. They then drove him back to lane number 6 of Kalmadi House where they had parked their motorbike, and fled."
The victim then took a lift from a private bus and returned back to the city.
"A passerby alerted us and we rushed him to a nearby hospital. He suffered injuries in his teeth. We are probing the case," he added.
According to him, such incidents are on rise, especially in areas closer to the highways.
