HONOURED [Gulf Daily News (Bahrain)]
(Gulf Daily News (Bahrain) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) DUBAI: Bahrain's Prime Minister was honoured last night for his visionary economic policies.
He was also hailed as a statesman who has led his country on the path of inspirational achievements and played a pivotal role in spearheading economic development and strengthening its international relations.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa was awarded the top honour of the night, the Asian Business Leadership Forum's Statesman Award, at a glittering ceremony at the Armani Hotel at the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The business forum's annual event recognises contributions by political leaders and key stakeholders in the Middle Eastern and Asian business community. The event has previously been held in India and Abu Dhabi.
The Premier's grandsons - Shaikh Khalifa bin Rashid Al Khalifa and Shaikh Khalifa bin Ali Al Khalifa - received the award on his behalf from Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who is Dubai's Department of Civil Aviation president, Emirates Airline and Group's chairman and chief executive as well as the chairman of Dubai World.
They said the honour reflected the Premier's efforts to build a strong and thriving national economy that focused on enhancing citizens' standard of living.
Shaikh Ahmed was also later honoured with the business forum's Global Asian award, which recognises "powerful individual, a visionary, and a game changer, whose business performance is matched only by his steadfast commitment to excellence".
Present at the ceremony were UAE Economy Minister Sultan bin Said Al Mansouri, Indian Minister of Urban Development Kamal Nath, former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Kittirat Na-Ranong, top businessmen and diplomats. Established in 2007, the business forum provides a key platform for dialogue between major Asian and Middle Eastern decision-makers. Its officials aspire to transform the symposium into a Davos Forum of the Asian continent.
