NIIT fuels innovation with Microsoft [Mail Today (India)]


(Mail Today (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) NIIT University has launched Microsoft Innovation Centre ( MIC) in its campus in Neemrana aimed at building technical skills and fuelling innovative spirit among students.

The innovation centre, which involves representatives from the government sector, academic fraternity and industry, promises to open new employment and entrepreneurship avenues students by helping them apply knowledge and technological know- how to real life problems. " Building avenues for entrepreneurship is critical for enabling India's continued economic growth," said Bhaskar Pra- manik, Chairman, Microsoft Corporation ( India) Private Limited.



" The innovation centre at NIIT University will give students an opportunity to experience the latest in technology, sparking new ideas and innovation," said Pramanik. There are a total of 29 MIC's across the country.

The MIC at Neemrana will facilitate collaboration on IT- based research and development, product development and management, technology advancement, professional training, industry partnerships, placement opportunities, skill management, knowledge transfer and strong industry- institute interactions. NIIT will get access to key resources from Microsoft such as new platforms and software for the effective functioning of the centre.


Nestled in the foothills of the Aravali range in Rajasthan NIIT University currently offers three " industry aligned" B. Tech programmes in Biotechnology ( BT), Computer Science and Engineering ( CSE), and Electronics and Communication Engineering ( ECE). All the programmes have a research focus and feature a special module on ' Design Thinking' which it runs in association with Autodesk, a 3D design and engineering firm, based in the U. S. NIIT also offers M. Tech programmes in Educational Technology, Geographic Information Systems, Embedded Solutions and Convergence, Computing and Communications and Bioinformatics in addition to doctoral programmes in all the afore mentioned disciplines. The University also offers MTech Programme in Geographic Information Systems ( GIS).
