BRIEF: Fiber optic cable cut in OKC affects Suddenlink phone, Internet services [Enid News & Eagle, Okla.]

(Enid News & Eagle (OK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dec. 17--Suddenlink telephone and Internet services were down in Enid for several hours Tuesday after a fiber optic cable was cut in Oklahoma City.

The cut happened at about 11 a.m. Tuesday, and service was restored at about 4 p.m. The outage also affected reception of some Oklahoma City television stations.

Gene Regan, senior director of corporate communications for Suddenlink, said the interruption was caused by a road construction crew in the Oklahoma City area. The crew accidentally cut a fiber optic cable that is operated and maintained by another telecommunications company.

Suddenlink engineers detected the problem immediately through the 24-hour network monitoring and immediately began working with people from the other provider to get services restored," Regan said. "We apologize for the inconvenience to our customers." Those who continue to have issues with their service can get help by contacting Suddenlink toll-free at (888) 822-5151.
