Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference to consider adding another school to league [Bangor Daily News, Maine](Bangor Daily News (ME) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Dec. 18--Schools such as Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro and Nokomis of Newport could have a new opponent in many sports next fall. The RSU 73 board of directors has approved the proposed move of Spruce Mountain High School from the Mountain Valley Conference to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference in all sports except football beginning with the start of the 2014-15 academic year. The move is subject to final approval by the KVAC, which is scheduled to meet next in January. Spruce Mountain, the consolidation of the former Jay and Livermore high schools, is now a Class B school by enrollment, and the MVC is predominantly a Class C league. Spruce Mountain tentatively is slated to switch to the KVAC Class B, which is predominantly an Eastern Maine conference but does currently include Western Maine schools Leavitt of Turner Center, Lincoln Academy of Newcastle and Morse of Bath in basketball. Eastern Maine basketball programs in the KVAC Class B are Belfast, Camden Hills of Rockport, Erskine Academy of South China, Gardiner, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro, Mount View of Thorndike, Nokomis of Newport, Oceanside of Rockland-Thomaston, Waterville and Winslow. According to the Lewiston Sun Journal, Spruce Mountain assistant principal and athletic administrator Lee Hixon told the RSU 73 board that the travel distance to the KVAC schools would be about the same as it is to the MVC schools it currently plays, and conference dues are the same at $500 per year. Orono's Sinclair reaches LTC milestone Orono High School's 36-19 win over Dexter in this season's Little Ten Conference football quarterfinals was a milestone victory for Orono head coach Bob Sinclair. Sinclair became just the fifth coach in LTC with 100 career wins, joining former coaches Paul Withee of Foxcroft Academy and Art Greenlaw of Stearns of Millinocket and Mattanawcook Academy of Lincoln, current Bucksport coach Joel Sankey and Mike Siviski of Winslow, a former LTC member now competing in Eastern Maine Class C. Sinclair has coached in the LTC at Hampden Academy, John Bapst of Bangor and since 2004 at Orono.
