Local SEARS Carpet Cleaning Franchise Reeling from SHS Bankruptcy but Says "It's Business As Usual For Customers"(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) OTTAWA, Dec. 19, 2013 /CNW/ - Local business owner Sean Wiley whose company SDW Services has been operating for almost 20 years as Sear's Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning was informed by email on Friday that they were to cease doing business under the Sears banner and that they were now a creditor to the receivership of SHS Services Management Inc, even though their local business remains profitable and completely separate from SHS. Sears Canada handed the reins for all their home services products to SHS only 9 months ago (March 2013) and it has not been a smooth transition. "They had lofty goals to improve marketing efforts and strengthen the Sears Home Services brand but very little has materialized." Said Wiley. All the revenue SDW generates locally goes through the SHS merchant account meaning SHS gets the revenue first then remit it to SDW less a fee. Wiley is now owed for much of the work he completed over the past month and is left with no support from Sears on how to proceed. "Our business is good! We have a great local client base and I don't want to lose that" Wiley would like to continue to operate under the Sear's banner but will have to wait and see what Sear's really has to say. After spending 30 years with Sear's Carpet Cleaning this is very sad to see for Mr. Wiley. He has owned the franchise for 20 of those 30 years and with a lot of blood sweat and tears and millions of dollars of advertising, has built a really good business. "We just want our customers to know that we are still in business and plan on remaining so, whether it is as Sear's or not" said Wiley.
