Kamanga Joins Power Executive Committee

(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) EX-KABWE Warriors chairperson Andrew Kamanga has been appointed committee member in the newly constituted Power Dynamos executive.

Kamanga joins Power's executive committee after resigning from his Warriors post in November.

Outgoing Power chairperson, Owen Silavwe, who is also the clubs principle sponsors Copperbelt Energy Corporation (CEC) managing director, said at the clubs' end of year party on Friday in Kitwe that the new executive will be headed by Benny Simukoko.

"While football aims to entertain and unite, the commercial aspect of the sport cannot be ignored as it is the trend World over. Therefore CEC like any other sponsor seeks a return on their investment. Thus administrators and players are challenged to see to it that the team turns around its performance," Silavwe said.

Also appointed as committee member is sports media consultant, Ponga Liwewe who had previously served on the board at town rivals Kitwe United.

Other key appointments are treasurer Eugene Mpolokoso while Ricky Mafunda is the new Power secretary.

The committee members include Precious Chisenga, Morton Mgemezulu, Edward Ngosa and Fred Chalenga. Meanwhile, in coming Power chairperson Simukoko said he was looking forward to a successful tenure at the club.

"One of the areas we will be addressing is the introduction of sub-committees to look at specific areas such as players' welfare, technical matters, disciplinary issues and communication," Simukoko said.
