Al Khan Foods joins WFP, Dar Al Atta'a in 'Fight Against Hunger' programme [Week, The (Oman)]


(Week, The (Oman) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Al Khan Foods announced the launch of 'Fight Against Hunger' a Corporate Social Responsibility programme organised in conjunc­ tion with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and Dar al Atta'a, its local partner.



Viresh Kothari, managing direc­ tor of Al Khan Foods, said, "The critical issue of global hunger is a topic very close to the company's heart. Our CSR strategy encom­ passes a detailed plan to support Oman in building a healthy and happy future. By ensuring easy access to dietary education and awareness, and helping to support those in need, we plan to focus on expanding individual programmes and establishing innovative ways in the global fight against hunger." In Muscat recently to attend the launch ceremony, Elise Bijon, WFP Private Partnerships and Business Development Manager for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, said, "This is our first collaboration with the private sector in Oman. It gives us an opportunity to raise aware­ness here about world hunger." Ivy Dela Cruz, CSR chief at Al Khan Foods, said, "The pro­ grammes will provide nutrition to lesser privileged students thro­ ugh daily school meals and help Omani families meet basic nourishment requirements." May al Bayat, marketing direc­ tor of Dar al Atta'a, said, "Through our network and experience with helping the community in Oman, we hope to put the vision of WFP and Al Khan Foods to good effect."
