EMMC website is fully accessible to mobile users [Bangor Daily News (ME)]

(Bangor Daily News (ME) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) By Brian Swartz Weekly Staff Editor BANGOR -- Recognizing that more people are using mobile devices to access its website (emmc.org), Eastern Maine Medical Center has taken steps to ensure the website "is now smart-phone and tablet friendly," Chad Vance of EMMC Community Relations indicated in a recent press release.

"As more and more people use smartphones as a tool in their daily lives, EMMC must provide mobile tools to our patients, visitors, and staff on the go," Vance noted. "In November 2013, more than 18 percent of our website visits were from mobile devices, and that number is growing.

"The mobile version of this site is not just the full website shrunk down to fit onto a smaller screen. It is a version of the site designed for easy access and tailored to mobile users," according to Vance.

After accessing emmc.org, a mobile user connects with the website's mobile version; the option exists to access the full site. A mobile user can access such information as: A directory of EMMC services and contact information; Directions and locations for those services; Updates on the hospital's current construction project; EMMC Physician Finder; The EMMC Career Center; A list of visitor services; A list of phone numbers frequently used by people calling EMMC; A health library.

"The new mobile site was designed as a response to our growing mobile community, giving web users easy access to important health information from wherever they are," Vance noted.
