Bexar County Medical Society announces change in leadership [La Prensa (San Antonio, TX)]
(La Prensa (San Antonio, TX) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Executive Committee of the Bexar County Medical Society (BCMS) Board of Directors announces a change of management effective immediately.
The former BCMS CEO/ executive director, Stephen C. Fitzer, returns to that position to once again lead the 160-year-old organization. Fitzer previously served as the society's CEO/ executive director from 2003 to 2008. Most recently, Fitzer has been CEO of Strategic Changes LLC in Austin, a management consulting firm which consults in multiple arenas, including mergers and acquisitions, revenue development, financial management, marketing and operations.
A business executive with more than 25 years of experience as CEO at the local, national and international levels, Fitzer achieved a number of important accomplishments while leading BCMS during his first tenure, including: record high membership levels; acquisition of majority ownership in Bexar CVI, the credentials verification organization; tripling in size of the BCMS Circle of Friends program; and stable growth enabling BCMS to establish itself more prominently in the medical community as an active proponent for medicine and patients' rights.
"I'm excited and honored to serve and be part of the BCMS family once again," Fitzer says. "I never dreamed I'd be walking back into this wonderful organization after leaving into what I thought was retirement. Needless to say, I've missed collaborating with the dedicated physicians and staff of BCMS and look forward to a prosperous and exciting 2014 and beyond."
