Student union has first female chief exec [Herald, The (Plymouth, England)]


(Herald, The (Plymouth, England) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) THE first female chief executive of the University of Plymouth Students' Union (UPSU) has been appointed.

Gina Connelly, who has held the post on an interim basis for the last six months, has got the job. She said: "I am absolutely thrilled to be appointed as chief executive of UPSU and look forward to the exciting times ahead for our students and the students' union.



"I look forward to working in partnership with our executive officer team, UPSU staff, Plymouth University and our stakeholders within the community to ensure that we are delivering the very best student experience possible for our members." Gina joined UPSU in 1997 as a finance assistant following a career in the banking sector.

In 2008 she was promoted to finance manager and following UPSU's strategic review the following year became the director of finance and resources. Sarah Bowman, UPSU's president, said: "We believe that she will successfully drive forward the Unions' vision to transform lives through experience."
