Baidu Antivirus Gets Softonic.com's Most Promising Antivirus of 2013 Award [Professional Services Close - Up](Professional Services Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Baidu, a Chinese search engine and developer of PC, Web and mobile products, announced that its PC security software Baidu Antivirus was named this year's "most promising antivirus" in Softonic.com's Big Antivirus Comparison. According to a release, in addition to the award, Baidu Antivirus also claimed third place in system performance out of the many top PC security products evaluated in the comparison. "With its new product [Baidu Antivirus], the Chinese search giant Baidu provides an excellent product in the antivirus industry," said Softonic.com. The announcement also praised Baidu Antivirus's detection rates and performance, stating that, as a relative newcomer to the PC security market, its "results have already been very impressive." Baidu reported that Softonic.com's yearly comparison uses testing data collected on many antivirus programs over the course of the year by test laboratory Virus Bulletin. In the comparison, Softonic.com evaluates antivirus software by detection rate, system resource usage, speed, user interface and feature set. Taking all this information into account, awards are given for the best antivirus, the most promising antivirus, the most disappointing antivirus, the strongest antivirus, the fastest antivirus, and the most complete free antivirus. Additionally, the Big Virus Comparison is not Baidu Antivirus's first such commendation. In September 2013, Baidu Antivirus also received the VB100 award from Virus Bulletin. In May, it was awarded Checkmark Certification from West Coast Labs, and in August, Baidu Antivirus received OPSWAT Certification. Baidu Antivirus is a part of Baidu's family of international products, which includes Baidu PC Faster, Hao123 and mobile apps such as DU Battery Saver. Baidu Antivirus works on desktop and laptop PCs and tablets running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8.
