The CHA Board of Directors Elects New Officers

Ms. Ruth has more than 30 years’ experience in the crafts and direct marketing industries. From 1994 to 2003 she was with Meredith Corporation as Group Publisher for Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection and Food Group. Prior to working in publishing, Ms. Ruth held a variety of senior retail merchandising and store operations positions—1988 to 1994 with Chicago-based Leewards Creative Crafts, and 1978 to 1988 at Northwest Fabrics and Crafts. She led the team to transition Northwest Fabrics into the crafts business.

Ms. Ruth serves as the chairman of the board of directors for the Craft & Hobby Association, and has been a member of the board since 2007. She has chaired several board committees over the past six years.


David Murray is the Director of Sales at Ellison, which serves the paper craft, quilting and jewelry segments of CHA. Mr. Murray is a seasoned and results-driven sales professional who brings a successful 19 year track-record in consumer products. He spent 17 Years at ACTIVA Products, serving as its Vice President before taking his current position at Ellison which he started in August of 2012. David is serving his second term on the CHA Board of Directors and his position has transitioned from Secretary to Vice Chair. He has also served as Chair of the Dues & Membership Committee, Awards Committee, and the Treatment of Staff Committees as well as being on the Nominating Committee. David resides in Dallas Texas, he is married to Teresa and together they have 2 young children. David is serving his second term on the CHA Board of Directors and his position has transitioned from Secretary to Vice Chair.

Chuck McGonigle is the CEO of Artissimo Holdings, which is a wall art company. Mr. McGonigle spent 18 years with Procter and Gamble before taking a series of leadership positions in consumer products companies. While the CEO of Colorbok, he joined the CHA Board and has served 4 years. He has headed up the Standards Committee and the Audit Committee.
