ReImagine's New Revolutionary Online Program Helps Cancer Patients Learn Coping Skills

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 ReImagine's new Pillars4Life program is the result of 5 years of clinical research at Duke University and teaches coping strategies to patients and caregivers alike while also providing a community of support from peers and experts. Program participants meet via phone or video conference and are taken through a nine-week coping skills training course taught by a specially-trained social worker – all within the comfort of their home. Each session is one hour and fifteen minutes long and teaches patients concrete skills for living their lives to the fullest in the presence of their disease and empowers them to take charge of their ongoing journey with cancer. Reimagine co-founder, Kristin MacDermott, shares her thoughts on the program, “We developed this curriculum that was unique enough to capture the attention of the director of the Duke Cancer Center. So after studying the program in a clinical setting, we observed that the quality of lives of women with advanced cancer was improving. However, this model was too expensive to scale because everything was one-on-one, face-to-face. Now, we have taken everything that worked in that model and are applying it in an online classroom setting. It’s just like taking an online course, except all the tools and skills you are learning are proven to help you thrive in the face of cancer.“ Read the full story at (c) 2013 PRWEB.COM Newswire
