CMS official overseeing Obamacare rollout to retire [Examiner, The (Washington, DC)]
(Examiner, The (Washington, DC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Michelle Snyder, who oversaw the rollout of President Obama's health care law as chief operating officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, is retiring, the agency announced on Monday.
In a statement cited by the New York Times, CMS administrator Marilyn Tavenner said Snyder had been ready to retire at the end of 2012, but remained at the agency "at my request to help me with the challenges facing CMS in 2013."
The botched rollout of Obamacare has fueled speculation about whether anybody would be fired or held responsible. To this point, Obama has stood behind Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, despite the calls for her dismissal.
CMS is an agency that operates under HHS, which Sebelius overseas.
