Kengen Names Joshua Choge New Chairman


(AllAfrica Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) Board of Directors has appointed Joshua Kibet Choge as the new chairman of the board, replacing Titus Mbathi who retired on December 20, 2013.

Choge will serve for a term of three years until he comes up for retirement and election by rotation as per the Articles of Association of the company.

"Choge is conversant with corporate governance matters having attended the critically acclaimed corporate governance training for Directors training course organized by the centre for corporate governance," the board stated.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Statistics, is a trained Accountant from Strathmore College as well as a trained Procurement Manager by the Chattered institute of Purchasing ad Supplies (UK).

He has served as a Director at Agricultural Finance Corporation where he was the immediate former Deputy Chairman of the board and the Chairman of the Finance and Business Committee of the Board.



He also has over 15 years experience in the public sector in various positions including Purchasing Manager as well as Deputy Chief Internal Auditor at East African Portland Cement.

The board also appointed four more members to fill vacancies on the board.


The four appointed to the board include National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, Energy and Petroleum Principal Secretary Joseph Njoroge, Millicent Nyaboke Omanga and Ziporah Nyakairo Ndegwa.
