187 rankers at Goa varsity's 26th annual convocation [Goa] [Times of India]

(Times of India Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) PANAJI: Around 187 rankers and 66 medal winners will receive their awards at the 26{+t}{+h} annual convocation of Goa University (GU) on January 7 at the varsity's Jubilee Hall. Ashank Desai, former alumni of GU affiliated Goa Engineering College and founder member of the renowned multinational information technology services company Mastek Limited, will be the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Desai's Mastek Limited is one of India's oldest software companies and has major presence in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Middle East. Desai has served as a chairperson to the company and also has a degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He is also a graduate in mechanical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. The annual convocation ceremony of GU will see over 7,000 students receiving graduate degrees, over 900 post graduate degrees, over 100 postgraduate diplomas and another 30-odd doctorates. Students covering over nine areas of studies will receive their degrees, some of which are language and literature, social sciences, natural sciences, medicine, engineering, law, commerce, life sciences and environment and management studies. Goa governor and Goa University chancellor Bharat Vir Wanchoo will preside over the function. The function will begin at 10.30am.
