In order to analyse and report data more quickly, NCCD turned to Violin Memory to build an Oracle RAC solution optimised for performance and cost savings. NCCD uses research and analytics to improve outcomes for people in juvenile, adult justice, child welfare, and other human service systems. To improve performance, NCCD chose the latest release of Oracle RAC to build and tune its application for flash, leveraging the latest version of Oracle ASM, but needed storage to support the Oracle RAC configuration. To better analyse the data for NCCD's reporting the organisation chose a Violin 6000 Series Flash Memory Array to improve the performance of the Oracle database. NCCD worked closely with Violin to build, configure and tune the environment for maximum performance and throughput. The result was a solution that produced the reports in about three hours, an 85 percent improvement in report turnaround times, and a reduction of three to two Oracle RAC nodes.
