John Muir Health Foundation Announces New Board Members and Elected Officers for 2014


WALNUT CREEK, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

The John Muir Health Foundation, the fundraising arm of John Muir Health, has announced the appointment of one new member and elected its 2014 officers. The Foundation's newly elected officers include David D. Woodworth of Walnut Creek who will serve his first term as chair of the board; Peter D. Gruebele of Moraga who will serve his first term as vice chair; Jack E. Thompson of Alamo who will serve his first term as secretary-treasurer; and Carlotta R. Dathe of Lafayette, Stephen L. Davenport of Walnut Creek and Gerald D. Stroffolino of Moraga who will all serve as officers-at-large.

The one new board member is Michael Fossan of Walnut Creek, president of the John Muir Medical Center, Concord volunteers, who will serve a two year ex officio term on the John Muir Health Foundation Board of Directors.

Members of the board who are continuing to serve throgh 2014 are Calvin (Cal) K. Knight, president and CEO of John Muir Health; Michelle J. Bartel of Oakland; Nouri Ghorbani, M.D.; Robin Harrison, president, John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek Auxiliary; Guy R. Henshaw of Danville; Beverly A. Jones of San Francisco; James V. Mitchell of Orinda; Margaret S. Murphy of Orinda; Robert F. Saydah of Alamo; John C. Sayres of Orinda; and Elliot D. Stein of Danville. Honorary directors who continue to serve on the board include Theresa M. Caygill of Walnut Creek, Jean and Ken Hofmann, and Margery B. Sterns, all of Lafayette.

The John Muir Health Foundation has received more than $100 million in contributions since 1959 from individuals, corporations and foundations. Gifts are directed toward the purchase of medical equipment and support of educational and medical programs to benefit the community. John Muir Health, based in Walnut Creek, is a not-for-profit health system.
