Brickstream Adds Support for Smartphone Wi-Fi and BLE Proximity Detection to Brickstream LIVE Platform

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) New York, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2014 Brickstream, a leader in behavior intelligence solutions for environments where people shop, gather, work and play, today announced that it has added support for smartphone Wi-Fi and Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) proximity detection to its Brickstream LIVE™ data collection platform for in-store customer analytics. Announced last month, Brickstream LIVE is the first and only device to combine 3D customer behavior analytics, a high resolution video camera and wireless-based proximity data analytics within a single platform, allowing brick and mortar businesses to simultaneously capture data for operations, security, merchandising and marketing. Wi-Fi and BLE detection capabilities give Brickstream the ability to provide additional insights, including intelligence on repeat store visitors, visitors to multiple locations and dwell times and conversions at product displays. In addition, BLE can be used to eliminate employees from in-store analytics and traffic counts. The new capability will be available in Q3 2014.

“Connected customers who use smartphones, tablets and other wirelessly connected devices to shop anytime, anywhere — including in stores — are prompting more and more retailers to shift to a multi-channel sales and marketing strategy,” said Steve Jeffery, CEO of Brickstream. “Combining BLE and Wi-Fi proximity-sensing capabilities with Brickstream’s highly accurate and anonymous 3D behavior analytics allows retailers to capture valuable information about this subset of shoppers, and even personalize service and offers provided to them in the store.” Wireless technologies can only be used to count and track shoppers with smartphones when location services are enabled. (And in most cases, the user must also opt-in). Today, this is a small but growing subset of all shoppers. In contrast, Brickstream’s 3D stereo vision technology anonymously measures and tracks all the visitors to the store. By analyzing Wi-Fi and BLE proximity data (also called location tracking) in combination with the more comprehensive information collected by Brickstream’s core technology, retailers can gain valuable insights about how their connected customers compare to all other shoppers in the store.

Retailers can also use Wi-Fi and BLE proximity data to better understand the behaviors of individual in-store shoppers, including things like how often they return to the same store, visit other stores or how often they visit a display before buying. This real-time intelligence can additionally be used in conjunction with innovative in-store applications designed to offer personalized promotions and services. Additional benefits include:    •      Insight into the effectiveness of location-based promotions    •     Analysis of data related to in-store dwell times, product and offer conversions, repeat customers and first-time customers    •     Provides opportunity to elevate service levels (for example, a discount provided at the register for a first-time customer)    •     Lowers the cost of expanding in-store analytics coverage Since not all shoppers in a store will be connected via a mobile device, Brickstream LIVE’s primary approach to data gathering is its highly accurate 3D stereo analytics, which give retailers and other types of brick and mortar businesses (banks, grocery chains, event venues) highly accurate insights into all visitors to a location, including how many people have entered and exited, how long individuals wait in register queues and the path they take through the store. Brickstream LIVE also includes high resolution video for security and loss prevention purposes, making the platform one of the most comprehensive in-store customer behavior analytics solutions available.
