Madoff Whistleblower to Speak at ISACA's North America CACS Conference

ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. --(Business Wire)--

Harry Markopolos, Bernie Madoff whistleblower, author of No One Would Listen: A True Financial Thriller and subject of the documentary Chasing Madoff will share his insights on the largest fraud case in U.S. history, at ISACA's North America Computer Audit, Control and Security (CACS) conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, taking place 28-30 April 2014. In his presentation, titled "How Did One Man Lose $65 Billion? The Signs, the Red Flags and How to Make Sure That It Never Happens Again," Markopolos will share details of his nearly nine-year investigation, along with audit steps and prevention and detection tips that can protect the enterprise and consumers.

"Control systems at every level failed for every company involved in the Madoff case. Intelligent people with impressive credentials were fooled because they didn't retain their professional skepticism," said Markopolos. "Madoff easily bypassed controls through a series of rather simple human engineering techniques. I look forward to sharing techniques at ISACA's CACS conference that can help prevent such fraud."

Markopolos is one of more than 70 speakers who will convene at North America CACS to examine advancements in information systems (IS) assurance, risk and security.

Joining him is astronaut Mike Mullane, inductee to the International Space Hall of Fame, who will use NASA video and inside stories to discuss how to achieve a pathway to team excellence.
