John Allison Releases StreetGym to London and Tunbridge Wells [Travel & Leisure Close - Up]

(Travel & Leisure Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Ex-Army Sgt Major, John Allison, 42, brings StreetGym, to London and Tunbridge Wells this week.

It's a new concept in fitness, one where your street is your gym.

According to a release, recognising that there was a demand for low-cost, non-equipment based, outdoor fitness solutions, John developed urban training routines, which see participants working out on street furniture, architectural features and gradients simply using their own bodyweight.

John said: "StreetGym is particularly suitable for anyone who wants to train for an obstacle race like Tough Mudder or Spartan Beast as we also train people how to overcome obstacles using military assault course, basic Parkour and MovNat style techniques. Additionally we're seeing men and women come along who are simply bored with the gym and want to try something new.

I'm delighted to be able to bring this type of training to London and Kent and it's not just about fitness. I want to really empower people and give them low-cost/free, outdoor training techniques that they can use anywhere in the world, for life. Having served with the British Army for 24 years in a number of remote locations I'm well aware that you don't need expensive equipment or a gym to be able to keep fit." Allison initially trialed StreetGym in the corporate world, with London-based marketing agency Momentum UK, as part of a health and wellbeing project. He also ran sessions for Business Improvement District, Better Bankside. As it was a great success he decided to roll out StreetGym to private individuals this week.

Marketing professional, Steve Goates, 25, said: "Personally I'm not a fan of the conventional gym so StreetGym was a great alternative. After a session I always feel better, both mentally and physically."
