Comcast Keeps Headquarters in Downtown St. Paul

After thorough site analysis and consideration of a variety of Twin (News - Alert) Cities locations, Comcast has renewed its lease at 10 River Park Plaza in St. Paul in a deal that keeps the company's local headquarters at the downtown complex through 2024. The final agreement was signed earlier this month.

Comcast (News - Alert) employs more than 2,000 people across the Twin Cities, with more than 700 of those individuals based at its St. Paul headquarters. The company chose to stay at its 10 River Park Plaza location due in large part to easy access to public transportation, with a convenient bus stop at its front door and light-rail transit access within a mile of the building that will begin later this year. In addition, the centralized metro location means an efficient commute from many parts of the Twin Cities.

"With the original lease at 10 River Park Plaza nearing its expiration date, we looked at several buildings in the Twin Cities metro area as possible locations and time and again, our current location featured several traits that made it the ideal final choice," said Jeff Freyer, Regional Vice President for Comcast Twin Cities Region. "We are excited about bringing an entirely new look and feel to our downtown St. Paul facility to meet our needs both now and in the future."

"I am encouraged that Comcast's decision was driven in part by investments in much-needed infrastructure near their headquarters location. Comcast will make a multi-million dollar investment in extensive building renovations to accommodate the variety of operational functions based there, which include a major call center facility, business and commercial sales teams, and administrative support staff. The renovation plan calls for major improvements in all workspace areas, including new workstations, redesigned break rooms, conference rooms, product demonstration lab, and new lobby. Renovations are expected to begin later this month, with completion scheduled for Fall, 2014.

Comcast's River Park Plaza location will continue to house the company's Twin Cities Region headquarters staff, as well as the Billing Center of Excellence call center which serves customers across the western half of the United States. Other work groups in the building include customer, engineering, technical and IT support teams, as well as regional sales & marketing, finance, corporate and government affairs, and Comcast Business sales and support.

In recent years, Comcast has invested in significant renovations and expanded technology at many of its Twin Cities facilities, including the opening of a major call center operation in Minnetonka, and improved technical operations centers in Brooklyn Park, Mahtomedi, and Woodbury. In addition, the company has brought a new level of service and convenience for Twin Cities customers with the opening of new Xfinity Experience Centers in Roseville, Brooklyn Park, Richfield and St. Paul's Highland Park.
