BRIEF: Crowd-funding festival to feature marketing, design experts as speakers [The Florida Times-Union, Jacksonville :: ]

(Florida Times-Union (Jacksonville, FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Jan. 24--A speaker series designed to share ideas in design, entrepreneurship, marketing and music will be headlined by experts in social media and artistic design.

The series at the second annual One Spark, billed as "the world's crowd-funding festival," will feature Scott Stratten, president of Un-Marketing, and James White, artist, designer and founder of Signalnoise Studio, the festival announced. The festival will take place April 9-13 in downtown Jacksonville.

Stratten discusses alternative marketing strategies for the technological age and is the author of books such as "QR Codes Kill Kittens" and "The UnMarketing Book." White has worked as a graphic designer with companies such as Toyota, Universal Music and Google.

The festival aims to match artists, innovators, musicians, scientists and others with the resources to make their ideas possible. This year's event, which has a cash pot of $310,000, is focused around innovation.

Last year's cash pot for creators was $250,000, the Times-Union previously reported.

Other speakers include CEOs of apps that range from stock market trading to fundraising, a Starbucks creative manager and musicians.
