Managed High Yield Plus Fund Inc. - Reports Earnings


NEW YORK --(Business Wire)--

Managed High Yield Plus Fund Inc. (NYSE:HYF) (the "Fund"), a closed-end management investment company seeking high income, and secondarily, capital appreciation, primarily through investments in lower-rated, income-producing debt and related equity securities, today announced its performance for the second quarter and fiscal year-to-date ended November 30, 2013.

For the second quarter ended November 30, 2013, the Fund's earnings from net investment income were $2,702,892, equal to $0.04 per share. Total net realized and unrealized gains from investment activities were $5,156,260, equal to $0.08 per share, for the same period. This compares to earnings from net investment income of $2,975,706, equal to $0.05 per share, and total net realized and unrealized gains from investment activities of $2,504,647, equal to $0.04 per share, for the second quarter ended November 30, 2012.

For the six months ended November 30, 2013, the Fund's earnings from net investment income were $5,490,301, equal to $0.09 per share. Total net realized and unrealized losses from investment ctivities were $(1,105,950), equal to $(0.02) per share, for the same period. This compares to earnings from net investment income of $5,702,365, equal to $0.09 per share, and total net realized and unrealized gains from investment activities of $6,726,080, equal to $0.11 per share, for the six months ended November 30, 2012.



On November 30, 2013, net assets of the Fund were $140,258,477. The net asset value per share was $2.26, based on 62,153,062 shares outstanding, which represents an increase of 1.80% from the net asset value per share of $2.22 ($137,977,506 applicable to 62,153,062 shares outstanding) on November 30, 2012.
