Risk Assessment Resources [Professional Safety]

(Professional Safety Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ASSE's Risk Assessment Institute aims to become a gateway for ASSE members to develop new risk assessment core competencies, share best practices, and access the latest metrics, tools and research. If you haven't yet visited the institute's website at www.oshrisk .org, here's a preview of the type of information and resources you'll find in the Tools section (www .oshrisk.org/resources -tools.php): *Hazard and risk identification. Links to resources such as a Delphi template, a what-if checklist and an incident investigation form, as well as links to guidance documents on conducting job hazard analysis and root-cause analysis.

*Risk assessment teams. In addition to two addendums from ANSI/ASSE Z590.3-2011, you'll find templates for brainstorming, preparing a business continuity plan and conducting structured interviews, and a business impact analysis. Other resources include a process hazards analysis checklist and a sample risk assessment matrix from ANSI/ASSE Z10-2012.

*Risk assessment methods. Among the resources in this section are additional examples of risk matrixes and definitions of common terms, guides on environmental risk assessment, fault-tree analysis, and failure modes and events analysis. This section also contains a training guide for hazard and operability studies, and information on the hierarchy of controls. *Continuous improvement.

Links include a guide for performing event-tree analysis, information on layer of protection analysis and prevention through design, and guidance on management of change from ANSI/ ASSE Z10-2012.

Check out other sections of the site for information on current research, core competencies and a selection of case studies.

The Risk Assessment Institute aims to become a gateway for members.
