BRIEF: Fishing app? Now you've seen everything [Boston Herald :: ](Boston Herald (MA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 03--Fish Hunter ($229.99, fishhunter.com) The first-ever gadget to turn your smartphone into a sonar fish-detector seems like a timely find with fishing season just around the corner. The good: This little red orb floats atop the water and surveys up to 120 feet below. An accompanying app allows the user to place pins on a virtual map to catalogue the best places to fish, identify hazards and other locations. It communicates to an Android or iOS smartphone via Bluetooth, at a maximum range of 80 feet. Because it's Bluetooth-enabled, you can be as far out in the reception-free wilderness as you'd like. It's also suitable for icefishing. The bad: What else? The price. The bottom line: This appears to be the perfect gift for the fisherman in your life. That is, if you can afford it. ___ (c)2014 the Boston Herald Visit the Boston Herald at www.bostonherald.com Distributed by MCT Information Services |
