Management shake-up at DLA Piper sees Knowles take chair

(City A.M. (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) CITY law firm DLA Piper yesterday announced that global cochairman Tony Angel will step aside next year after just one term in the role, to be replaced by cochief executive and managing partner Sir Nigel Knowles from January next year.

Knowles will be joined at the top by Roger Meltzer, the firm's dickiebow sporting co-chair of its Americas practice, and the US-UK link will be replicated in the new CEO set-up, which will see London intellectual property partner Simon Levine team up with California-based Jay Rains as co-CEOs.

Angel joined DLA in late 2011, four years after retiring as managing partner of Magic Circle firm Linklaters. He will retain his role as senior partner at the firm when his term ends next year.

Knowles will remain as managing partner of the international firm until 30 April 2015. Knowles' and Levine's appointments are subject to approval by members of DLA Piper International.
