Governor O'Malley Announces Newly Installed Security Enhancements at the Baltimore City Detention Center, Including Tecore Networks iNAC™ Managed Access Solution

HANOVER, Md. --(Business Wire)--

Tecore (News - Alert) Networks, the inventor of Managed Access technology and a pioneer supplier of American-made 2G, 3G, and 4G LTE mobile network infrastructure today joined Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley along with officials from the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections for the announcement of the newly installed security enhancements at the Baltimore City Detention Center (BCDC) in downtown Baltimore. A major part of this enhancement is the installation of Tecore Networks Intelligent Network Access Controller (iNAC)™ Managed Access solution targeting the control of contraband cell phones.

The BCDC installation is an expansion of the State of Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections Services program that initially deployed the iNAC system at the Metropolitan Transition Center (MTC) facility in 2013. Located in the heart of downtown Baltimore, these facilities are less than two miles from Camden Yards andM&T Bank Stadium. The iNAC Managed Access Solution has been a true game-changer for officer safety, crime prevention, and investigations in corrections facilities in densely populated urban and rural areas.

The iNAC Managed Access solution prohibits access of contraband cell phones to commercial networks for voice calls, text messaging, and Internet services within the facility, while approved users are automatically redirected to the commercial service operator. "Contraband cell phone use by inmates represents a clear danger to the citizens of Maryland. We commend Governor O'Malley and the State of Maryland for responding to this threat by being the first state to successfully deploy a comprehensive managed access solution to a facility in a densely populated urban area," said Harry Lewis, Vice President Sales of Tecore Networks. "Our success at both facilities could not have been achieved without the cooperation and support of the FCC (News - Alert) and the six national cellular network operators.

As the only Managed Access solution covering all commercial wireless technologies including 2G, 3G as well as 4G LTE (News - Alert) from a single platform, the iNAC leads the industry in the fight against contraband cell phones with a comprehensive technology portfolio ready to deploy in any environment.
