Apple picks up the smartphone pace [Big News Network (United Arab Emirates)]

(Big News Network (United Arab Emirates) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Apple has made up some lost ground in the US smartphone market with its most recent iPhone release.

Figures have shown Apple took 41.8 percent of smartphone sales in the final three months of 2013, up from 40.6 percent in the three months to September.

The gains have been attributed to last year's release of the iPhone 5S and 5C models.

New iPhones were released in September in the United States and other world markets.

While the iPhone was popular among Americans, the Android platform still held a majority with 51.5 percent of smartphone subscribers.

The Google Android system is now used on around 80 percent percent of smartphones sold globally.
