Bangor YMCA board names Diane Dickerson CEO [Bangor Daily News (ME)]


(Bangor Daily News (ME) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) BANGOR, Maine -- The board of directors of Bangor YMCA has announced that Diane Dickerson is the organization's new chief executive officer.

Dickerson has been with the Y for the past year, serving as executive vice president of marketing, development, and community engagement.

Elaine Chambers, president of the board, stated in a press release, "During this past year, Diane has demonstrated the ability to deliver results while reconnecting this organization to our community. We have full confidence in her abilities to lead the Y through the challenges we face. She has the experience, talent, and enthusiasm we want in our CEO." Before moving to Bangor, Dickerson spent the past three decades in Nevada and California, serving as the CEO of her own successful companies, as well as executive leadership roles in multiple organizations. She dedicated her life to community involvement, serving as the chairman of the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the University Medical Center Foundation, chairman of The Children's Miracle Network, and many more.



"Diane brings her knowledge of what it takes to run a business and the drive to make it succeed," said search committee member Paul Means in a prepared statement. "In addition, she has the people skills to make this community facility run smoothly and effectively. We are fortunate to have such a qualified person as our CEO." Rick Fournier, chairman of the search committee, added, "We are very proud of our Y. We have a great staff and an amazing group of supporters. Diane has created an excitement within the community that has not been seen in a number of years. While coming on as the new CEO of the Y has its challenges, I am very excited to have Diane at the helm. She brings a wealth of experience and talent." Dickerson said that she is humbled and honored to be chosen as the CEO of the Y.

"To lead an organization that has served this community and played such a role in the lives of generations of people for the past 147 years is quite an honor," Dickerson said in a press release. "I am especially proud to lead our incredible staff who is smart, talented, and so devoted to the mission of the Y. It is a joy to work with them, our Board of Directors, our Foundation, and the many community stakeholders that give so much to our organization." Dickerson will retain marketing and development oversight along with her new responsibilities.


The search committee consisted of chairman Rick Fournier, Rich Armstrong, Anne Marie Storey, Ginny MacMillan, Dr. Adam Lauer, Drew Cota, Bruce Nickerson, Paul Means, Dick Cattelle, Durrell Buzzini and Elaine Chambers.
