CEO of North American Indigenous Games steps down amid harassment allegations

(Canadian Press DataFile Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) REGINA _ The chief executive officer of the Regina North American Indigenous Games has stepped down pending an investigation into allegations of harassment against him.

The games' board of directors said in a news release late Tuesday that the complaints were filed with its human resources committee early this month.

The nature of the allegations against CEO Glen Pratt have not been disclosed.

The board said Pratt is on leave with pay until the investigation is complete.

Pratt did not respond Tuesday to requests for an interview.

Organizers are still looking for corporate sponsors and hundreds of volunteers to help host the games, believed to be the largest cultural and sporting event for aboriginal youth in North America.

The games are set for July 20 to July 27 in Regina, injecting about $32 million into the local economy.

"The board acknowledges the seriousness of the complaints and wants to assure its partners, funders, stakeholders, staff and the public that the matter is being thoroughly investigated by an independent firm that specializes in human resource related matters," said the board's release.

Regina won the bid to host the 2014 games over Halifax and London, Ont.
