Turkey imports USD 2.7bn worth of mobile phones last year. [IntelliNews - Weekly Reports]


(IntelliNews - Weekly Reports Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Turkey imported USD 2.7bn worth of mobile phones last year, data compiled by the business daily Dunya showed.

Mobile phone imports in terms of value rose 56.7% y/y in 2013 while Turkey imported more than 90mn units of mobile phones over the past seven years, according to the daily. Turkey imports around 10mn units of mobile phones each year. Last year alone, 12.2mn units of cellular phones were imported, representing a 14.8% y/y increase.



68.9% (8.4mn units) of the mobile phones were imported from China, 18.2% (2.22mn units) from Vietnam and 5.6% (0.7mn units) were imported from South Korea. There are around 70mn mobile phone users in Turkey.
