Ziggo announced today that Marcel Nijhoff, Chief Commercial Officer, will step down as of March 1, 2014. With effect of April 18, 2014, Hendrik de Groot, currently Managing Director of Business-to-Business at Ziggo, is appointed as new Chief Commercial Officer and member of the Management Board of Ziggo.



Ziggo has entered a new phase with a different composition of the Management Board while mutual agreement was reached on Marcel Nijhoff leaving the organization.

Andrew Sukawaty, Chairman of the Supervisory Board said: "Marcel has played an important role in making Ziggo the successful company it is today. His knowledge and expertise contributed significantly, especially at the introduction of Ziggo in 2008 as a result of the merger of three local cable companies. The Supervisory Board intends to appoint Hendrik de Groot as Chief Commercial Officer and member of the Management Board of Ziggo as of April 18, 2014. The intended appointment will be put on the agenda of the Annual General Meeting of shareholders of Ziggo on 17 April, 2014 for information purposes. The Works Council fully supports the intended appointment of Hendrik de Groot.

From 1994 to 2003 Hendrik served in various senior roles at MCI International before its acquisition by Verizon in 2005 as Vice President responsible for Business Development and later for Corporate Accounts and Services. He started his career at BT Benelux in several Sales and Marketing positions. Hendrik de Groot graduated in business administration and business economics at the Nyenrode University and at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam.
