BRIEF: Sallisaw Internet Teams With Wholesale Phone Service [Times Record, Fort Smith, Ark. :: ]

(Times Record (Fort Smith, AR) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 22--A recently finalized city partnership with a wholesale phone service provider means the Sallisaw community will have access to residential and commercial VoIP telephone services through the city-owned DiamondNet Internet service, according to a city announcement.

VoIP is an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol, which turns analog signals into digital signals so they can be transmitted over the Internet.

The Sallisaw Municipal Authority and Momentum finalized the agreement in January. The city hopes to migrate more than 1,000 lines to the Momentum platform early this year.

DiamondNet is the city's Fiber to the Premise (FTTP) system that provides advanced Internet, video and phone services to area residents and businesses.

According to Momentum President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Fox, Momentum already has 125,000 subscribers and can offer Sallisaw subscribers competitive pricing, bundled calling packages, online subscriber portal and round-the-clock customer support.
