BRIEF: Owner of Leisure Living Estates Mobile Home Park has filed to rezone the property [The Fayetteville Observer, N.C. :: ]

(Fayetteville Observer (NC) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Feb. 23--The property owner of Leisure Living Estates Mobile Home Park has filed an application to commercially rezone the 48-acre tract with conditions.

The Fayetteville mobile home park at Cliffdale and Skibo roads has more than 200 tenants, who will have to move. One of the landowners, Don Wellons of Dunn, has said he wants to remove the trailers and redevelop the site. He is required under state law to give tenants a minimum six months notice.

Planners with Fayetteville's Development Services Department have recommended approval for the new zoning. The city's Zoning Commission is scheduled to hear the case March 11. The City Council, which has the final say over the rezoning request, will hold a public hearing March 24.

Wellons has not said which commercial retailers he hopes to attract to his site, but he has proposed building a new street connecting Skibo and Cliffdale roads with new traffic lights.

As a condition of the rezoning, he has agreed the new development wouldn't include such uses as day cares, self-storage units, laundromats, tattoo parlors, adult entertainment, funeral homes, car sales, industrial services or warehouses.
