Ex-Kingsholm favourite Luke signs for Irish [Western Daily Press (UK)]

(Western Daily Press (UK) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) London Irish have signed former Gloucester forward Luke Narraway.

The 30-year-old, who has played seven times for England, has signed a two-year deal with Irish after spending the last two seasons in France with Perpignan. He made over 160 appearances for Gloucester, winning the European Challenge Cup and the LV= Cup. Narraway said he had been convinced to join the Irish by their plans for the future.

"There has been a lot of positive news to come out of London Irish over the last six months, not least with the an-nouncement of the new board of directors and the move to a new state of the art training ground," he said.

"I'm excited with the direction the club are heading and I'm looking forward to being a part of their plans." London Irish director of rugby Brian Smith said: "Luke is a talented player with a huge amount of Premiership experience.

As a club, we want to be challenging for silverware and we need the right types of player to achieve those goals.

"I had the pleasure of working with Luke in the England set up and look forward to doing so again next season. He has bought into what we want to accomplish and therefore is a perfect fit for London Irish." (c) 2014 ProQuest Information and Learning Company; All Rights Reserved.
