Announcing the 2014 Board of Directors for Myeloma Canada


(Canada Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) MONTREAL, March 4, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - Myeloma Canada is pleased to announce the official composition of its Board of Directors for 2014 following the Annual General Assembly of Members held on February 28, 2014.  The Directors are: Mr. Denis Bilodeau, President; Dr. Donna Reece, Secretary; Mrs. Cindy Manchulenko, Treasurer; Mr. Richard Oana, Director; Mrs. Johanne Mullen, Director; and, Mr. Eric Low, Director.



At this time, we would also like to acknowledge and thank former directors, Me. John Lemieux, co-founder of the organization; Mr. Frank Boal; Mrs. Anne Langstroth; and Dr. Nizar Bahlis for their work, help and significant contributions to the fight against myeloma.

After serving on the Board of Directors for over six years, Dr. Nizar Bahlis, Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, said that he is honoured to have been able to contribute to building a leading patient-driven, patient-focused organization. "I will continue to support the work of Myeloma Canada and am confident that the strong and capable team of Directors and staff will work to fulfill its mission with renewed energy." "I am honoured to accept this important mandate," said Denis Bilodeau.


"With determination, I will work together with the myeloma community, striving to improve the quality of life of patients, their caregivers and families," he continued. Initiatives Mr. Bilodeau has put forth, include: The development of a three-year strategic plan (2015-2018) that will ensure the growth and viability of the organization for patients, caregivers and their families.

The convening of 20 support group leaders from across the country at a summit to exchange knowledge and skills to better serve patients and caregivers.

The working toward equal access to therapeutic options for all Canadian patients with myeloma.

The renewed emphasis on fundraising for education, awareness, research and access.
