Washington, DC Launches "Digital DC" in Support of Burgeoning Tech Community

With a Five-Year Economic Development Strategy aimed at creating 100,000 new jobs and generating $1 billion in new tax revenue, Washington, DC’s tech scene is rapidly expanding making the District an increasingly exciting headquarters for technology startups. Mayor Vincent C. Gray, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development and the Washington, DC Economic Partnership have launched Digital DC, a marketing and branding campaign and economic development initiative to promote Washington, D.C. as the leading community in the innovation and high-tech economy.



The Digital DC initiative will enrich the technology ecosystem with:    •      Digital DC Branding Campaign – the launch of a dedicated website, http://www.digitaldc.co, branded social media platforms, and sponsored events.

   •     Digital DC Tech Fund (DDCTF) – an entrepreneurial induction program designed to provide training, access to networks, capital, and resources for early-stage tech entrepreneurs in the District.


   •     Digital DC Tech Corridor – the establishment of a technology corridor (7th St NW/New York Ave NW to Georgia Ave NW/Kansas Ave NW) to establish a pipeline and clustered ecosystem of tech talent near the District’s existing tech hub within Gallery Place/Chinatown.

Mayor Gray will kick off the celebration of Digital DC with remarks at 5:30 pm.
