Adobe unruffled with how Photoshop is used [Asian News International]

(Asian News International Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Washington, Mar. 10 (ANI): Adobe is synonymous with Photoshop, which in turn is synonymous with the act of digitally retouching or manipulating a photograph, however, the maker isn't concerned about how the software is being used.

The process of digitally retouching images by magazines and advertisers has earned Photoshop a bad reputation as the final output often creates an illusion of ideal, perfect beauty that harms young minds.

Adobe said in a statement that Photoshop has made and continues to make a profound impact on the visual culture and it could be used in some unexpected, perhaps questionable ways, in a free society.

According to Mashable, the anti-Photoshop movement is surging ahead more vocally than ever with ad campaigns boasting un-retouched images.

However, the software maker has pointed out that Photoshop-the software might not be the problem, as artists, designers and everyday people manipulated images well before Adobe and the software merely makes those tactics easier and more accessible.

A photographer working in the music industry, Meredith Truax, said that Photoshop has made people more aware of photo manipulation and more skeptical of any image that appears out of the ordinary.

Meanwhile, a teen activist for youth coalition SPARK Summit, Georgia Luckhurst, said that retouching skews our perfections of ourselves, causing widespread issues with confidence and eating irregularities, but she opined that Photoshop's creation isn't a bad thing.
