EDA announces marketing partnership with Enterprise Florida [The News Herald, Panama City, Fla. :: ]
(News Herald (Panama City, FL) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 12--PANAMA CITY -- The Bay County Economic Development Alliance is taking steps to ensure the area is not left behind on statewide industry and business expansion efforts.
At a monthly investors' meeting Wednesday, EDA officials announced a $25,000 marketing partnership with Enterprise Florida, the state's principal economic development organization, in an effort to gain more exposure for Bay County.
EDA Director Neal Wade said the organization has already started to see a return on investment.
Some of the major benefits, he said, will come from opportunities to attend site meetings, and work with site consultants and companies they wouldn't be able to otherwise.
"It's going to give us higher visibility for Bay County at the state level," Wade said. "We're going to have a stronger partnership with Enterprise Florida."
The EDA will host the head of business development from Enterprise Florida at its June meeting to gain better understanding of how economic development projects are processed at the state level.
"We want to see more projects coming from Enterprise Florida," Wade said. "We think it's a really good move for us to do this."
Several levels of marketing contributions were available, but Wade said the organization opted for the $25,000 level because they have the funds available. Half of the contribution will be taken out of the current fiscal year budget, and half from the 2014-2015 budget.
While the EDA's financial report showed a net loss of $39,700 last month, Treasurer Clint Mizell said February is a traditionally slow month in terms of revenue because many partners pay their dues on a quarterly basis.
