Professor Liz Bacon Inaugurated as New President of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT


(Targeted News Service Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LONDON, March 13 -- BCS The Chartered Institute for IT issued the following news release: Professor Liz Bacon has been inaugurated as President of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT at the recent AGM. Jos Creese has been named as Deputy President.



Liz says of her year long tenure: "I am really looking forward to the year ahead and working to further raise the profile of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. My theme for the year that I'm President is transforming education through technology enhanced learning. I'm also keen to continue BCS' work to inspire more people to choose computing as a career, particularly women." Professor Liz Bacon, BSc, PhD, CEng, CSci, FBCS, CITP, FHEA, is a Deputy Pro Vice-Chancellor at the University of Greenwich with a University wide remit leading the development of technology enhanced learning. She is a BCS Trustee, was inaugural Chair of the BCS Academy of Computing, and is a past Chair of CPHC (Council of Professors and Heads of Computing) national committee.

Throughout her career Liz has been involved with many professional activities including working with e-skills UK, the Science Council, Parliamentary IT Committee (PITCOM) and EQANIE (European Quality Assurance Network for Informatics Education). She is a Co-Director of the eCentre research group and has been involved in eLearning, software engineering, and crisis management research for more than 10 years. She is an experienced systems designer and developer, with the bulk of her research and practice activity being directly industry facing, through knowledge transfer and consultancy.


Jos Creese, BSc, FBCS, FSITM, who has been named as Deputy President, is CIO of Hampshire County Council where he supports service innovation and business improvement through IT-enabled transformational programmes. Jos has over 25 years IT management experience gained both as a CIO and through non-executive director positions, including with BCS, Corporate IT Forum, Society of IT Management and as a Trustee of Eduserv.
