Boulder names Joyce Lira new human resources director [Daily Camera, Boulder, Colo. :: ]
(Daily Camera (Boulder, CO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 14--After a national search, Boulder announced Thursday that Joyce Lira will become city's new human resources director effective April 21.
Lirawill earn a salary of $148,000, according to a release from the city. Lira was selected from a national pool of about 300 applicants to be the new human resources director, which assists the city's 1,200 union and non-union employees.
"I am honored to have been selected as the new HR director and excited to be a part of shaping Boulder's workforce for the future," Lira said in a statement. "Boulder is a progressive city dedicated to improving performance management, employee development and preparing its employees to meet the future needs of the community. I look forward to leading such a dedicated team of professionals as we partner with city departments to serve the community."
Lira has 30 years of human resource experience and was the director of human services for the city of North Las Vegas, Nev., until April 2013. She has also previously served in human resource roles with the cities of Scottsdale and Mesa in Arizona as well as in the private sector with Carson Pirie Scott in Arizona.
Lira has a master's degree in education leadership from Northern Arizona University and an undergraduate degree from Arizona State.
"We had a highly qualified pool of candidates, and the large number of applicants speaks well to Boulder's reputation as a leading edge community," City Manager Jane Brautigam said in a statement. "I'm very pleased that so many qualified individuals want to be a part of Boulder, and I'm excited to have Joyce join our leadership team."
