Berry Plastics Group Reports Re-election of Board Members [Manufacturing Close - Up]


(Manufacturing Close - Up Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Berry Plastics Group, Inc. announced that at its Annual Meeting of Stockholders held on March 11, the shareholders re-elected B. Evan Bayh, Anthony M. Civale, and Ronald S. Rolfe to its Board of Directors.

The three bring a wealth of knowledge gained from years of experience in the political, private equity, and legal sectors, and by serving on boards of both non-publicly and publicly traded companies. Their knowledge, experience, and insight will be beneficial to Berry Plastics as we pursue our four strategic initiatives," said Jon Rich, Chairman and CEO of Berry Plastics.

B. Evan Bayh has been a member of Berry Plastics' Board of Directors since 2011. Bayh is a former U.S. Senator and Indiana Governor. He was a member of the U.S. Senate from the state of Indiana from 1998 until his retirement in 2011. While in the Senate, he served on a variety of committees, including the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, and the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship. Prior to serving in the Senate, Bayh served as Indiana Governor from 1988 to 1997.


Anthony M. Civale has been a member of Berry Plastics' Board of Directors since 2006. Civale is the Lead Partner and Chief Operating Officer of Apollo Capital Management and co-founded Apollo's senior credit and structured credit businesses. He joined Apollo in 1999. Prior to that time, Civale was employed by Deutsche Bank Securities, Inc. in the Financial Sponsors Group within its Corporate Finance Division. Civale also serves on the board of directors of HFA Holdings Limited, a multi-billion hedge fund of funds operator. In addition to these corporate boards, Civale also serves on the board of directors of Youth INC, a non-profit organization serving New York City children, and is a member of the Board of Trustees of Middlebury College. He has previously served on the boards of directors of Harrah's Entertainment, Goodman Global, Inc., Prestige Cruises, and Covalence Specialty Materials.

Ronald S. Rolfe was appointed to Berry Plastics' Board of Directors in October 2013. Rolfe was a member of the Litigation Department at Cravath, Swaine & Moore for more than 40 years. At the end of December 2010, he retired as a Partner of the firm. During his tenure, Rolfe led major antitrust and securities cases; SEC, NYSE, NASDAQ, and grand jury investigations; and, a range of commercial litigation and arbitrations. He was also active in major merger and acquisition transactions and corporate governance advice. Rolfe is a board member of Noranda Aluminum Holding Corp., Advanced Assessment Systems, Inc., and Tune Core, Inc. Rolfe dedicates much time to both professional organizations and civic endeavors, including serving as President of the Board of Trustees of The Allen- Stevenson School.
