Friendship Ridge gets new administrator [Beaver County Times, Pa. :: ]

(Beaver County Times (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 19--BRIGHTON TWP. -- A longtime healthcare executive has been named the new administrator of Friendship Ridge nursing home.

David E. Gritzer, who most recently served as president and chief executive officer of the Jewish Association on Aging (JAA) in Pittsburgh, has 37 years of experience in senior care and healthcare management and brings with him a knowledge of turnarounds and privatizations of county nursing homes, according to a news release from Comprehensive Healthcare Management Services LLC, which assumed ownership of Friendship Ridge on March 1.

A spokeswoman for the new owners said that Chuck Rhoads, the previous administrator under Premier Healthcare Resources, is no longer employed at Friendship Ridge. The Times was unable to contact Rhoads for comment Tuesday.

Friendship Ridge Chief Executive Officer Sam Halper said Gritzer will be a "tremendous asset" to the Brighton Township facility.

"(Gritzer) is a seasoned health care executive with an excellent track record of developing integrated organizational and financial strategies. David's skills and expertise will support our efforts to improve operations as well as overall resident care and satisfaction," Halper said in the news release.

While at the JAA, Gritzer conducted a turnaround of a multi-million dollar Continuing Care Retirement Community, improving the efficiency and quality of care and lifting its operations from substantial loss levels into profitability, according to Comprehensive.

Previously, Gritzer was senior vice president of operations at Maryland-based CareFirst Inc. and has spent the majority of his career directing the operational and financial efforts of health and senior care corporations throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio.

"I am impressed with the investment Comprehensive is making there and am looking forward to getting to work and collaborating with the team," Gritzer said in the news release. "We all have a shared vision for Friendship Ridge and I am pleased to be a part of charting that new course." ___ (c)2014 the Beaver County Times (Beaver, Pa.)
