Concordia U. Partners with HotChalk to Increase Access to Technology in the Classroom

PORTLAND, Ore. --(Business Wire)--

Concordia University, in collaboration with HotChalk, a leader in online education, announced the donation of 300 technology devices to Faubion School, a preK-8 public school adjacent to the university's campus in Northeast Portland, Ore.

The donation is the second in a series of technology infusions which aim to help close the opportunity gap at the Title I school. As part of the donation, Faubion teachers also receive the necessary professional development support to ensure the technology is integrated in a way that improves learning outcomes.

"Our students and teachers could not be more excited about using technology to enhance learning at Faubion," said Faubion School Principal LaShawn Lee.

Technology is one cornerstone of 3 to PhD™, a new national model to create safer, healthier and more educated communities.

HotChalk, a Silicon Valley online education leaer and 3 to PhD partner, donated the devices with Google (News - Alert) Play for Education management software for this phase of the project.

"Technology alone will not improve education outcomes, but the use of technology in collaboration with teachers, students, and the community can," shared HotChalk CEO Edward Fields. "Concordia, Faubion and Portland Public Schools have formed a committed partnership designed to support improvements in the classroom by working with teachers and technology. HotChalk is proud to be part of this innovative effort."

Technology devices were donated at an all-school assembly on Friday, March 21.
