BRIEF: New Post app lets kids pick Fruity Pebbles or Cocoa Pebbles [St. Louis Post-Dispatch :: ]

(St. Louis Post-Dispatch (MO) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 25--Post Foods has introduced a new smartphone app that lets children choose between Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles -- and have fun in the process.

The free iOS and Android app, part of the company's Pebbles 2014 marketing campaign and targeted at children aged 6 to 12, is described by the company as "good clean fun" that elevates the "passion they have for Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles." "Building an app from scratch was a rewarding, yet challenging endeavor. But if our consumers love it, all the long hours and sore thumbs will be worth it," said Jennifer Mennes, Post Foods director of media, digital and public relations.

The app allows users to play games, create avatars, enter sweepstakes promotions and shop in a store full of prizes, game cheats and digital gear -- available for purchase using in-app currency earned from completing missions.

Manifest Digital, based in St. Louis and Chicago, worked with Post to develop the app.

Cereal maker Post Foods is a unit of Brentwood-based Post Holdings Inc.
