Monsanto Ranks among Best Places to Work in the Netherlands

BERGSCHENHOEK, Netherlands --(Business Wire)--

Monsanto Netherlands (NYSE:MON), a leading producer of fruit and vegetable seeds, has been ranked 22 in the list of best large companies to work for in the Netherlands. This list is compiled annually by the Great Place to Work® Institute, which researches employees' level of trust in their employers, pride in what employees do and the pleasure of working with colleagues. More than 130 organisations participated in this year's survey in the Netherlands.

"This award is a confirmation of our hard work in the Netherlands," says Alexander van de Meeberg, Human Resources Lead for Monsanto Netherlands. "It is also a compliment for the way we work and our focus on the personal development of our employees." Van de Meeberg describes the company culture as very open: "People enjoy the chance to engage with important challenges for society such as food security, nutrition and the environment and work with farmers and scientists on ways agriculture can promote more sustainable choices," Van de Meeberg said.

"One day I'm meeting with my colleagues and the next I'm surrounded by plants," says Marlies Valkenburg, Foundation Seed Crop Specialist. For her colleague Mente Spanninga, Technical Development representative Benelux, matching the goals of customers is an important incentive: "It gives a huge boost when you show the customer the seed selection they are looking for."

In te Netherlands Monsanto focuses primarily on the production of vegetable seeds for greenhouses and open field use, employing 700 people in four locations.

The final list for 2014 was announced in Amsterdam on Tuesday night. More than 130 organisations participated in the Great Place to Work® study in the Netherlands this year. Great Place to Work Netherlands examines the degree of confidence, pride and pleasure within organisations. The survey rankings are based on a combination of an assessment of employees' responses to a survey about job satisfaction (2/3 of the score) and responses by human resources management about the company culture and employment policies (1/3 of the score).

Being recognized as a Great Place to Work in the Netherlands is the most recent of several such rankings. Monsanto ranked among the top 15 large companies to work for in Belgium and France this year according to those countries' respective Great Place to Work rankings. In addition, Monsanto was recognized as "One of the World 's Most Admired Companies" by FORTUNE magazine.
