(Pittsburgh Tribune-Review (PA) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) March 28--Laurel (with a reservation): To Springdale Mayor Ken Lloyd. In an effort to garner public opinion on the troubled borough, Lloyd held a "mayor's meeting" on Saturday. He got an earful. Lloyd's not a one-man rescue squad and he'll need help from the citizens -- and his recalcitrant council. Too bad Lloyd, who took office only in January, spent the first two-plus months of his term in Florida, not Springdale.

Lance: To Management Science Associates. The data and technology company has a pending sales agreement for the Rock Airport and Business Park in West Deer. Opponents of the sale say the company plans to close the airport. When asked about it, Management Science declined comment. Its silence speaks loudly. The airport/business park hasn't reached its potential, but closing it certainly doesn't serve economic development in the Allegheny Valley -- not to mention the more than $12 million in public money spent on its runway.

Lance: To Cheswick officials. Former councilman Brian Harvanek was punished for running afoul of ethics laws by voting on bills that paid his auto repair business for work on borough vehicles. But his fellow council members and other borough officials knew about the situation, yet still used the business and did nothing to stop Harvanek. At best this is ignorance of ethics laws. At worst, it's just ignoring them.
